The
anatomic and biological knowledge of the mind’s processes has taken benefit
from two revolutions : the revolution of cognitive sciences influenced
by I.T.(algorithms, memories, computation)and the neurobiological revolution
(selection of neural groups, interconnections, neurotransmitters, psycho-
neurobiological representations/perceptions).
This congress aims at the review of this knowledge. The participation of the promoters in neuroscience : G Edelman, J Delacour, W Singer, M Jouvet, J Vincent is therefore of great interest. At the congress’ inauguration the speech delivered by Professor G Edelman will explain the discussion’s themes : “From brain’s Dynamic to Consciousness; How the brain can develop Imagination”. The mind is based on the materiality of the brain, as a neurobiological system with a dynamic design. Consciousness is a mental state which incorporates with intentionality the present situations and the past life experience. The neurobiology explains the same way objective and subjective thoughts. Thanks to neurobiology, we can as well understand…. Any psychological representation, perception has a neurobiological equivalent. These basis of Consciousness will be discussed in the second session. The third and fourth sessions will deal with the clinical modifications of Consciousness and their treatments. The neurological alterations have a heuristic meaning/significance. The neurosciences bring a new interest to psychiatry and psychoanalysis: they give the psyche a neurobiological principle enounced by Freud himself. It is therefore easy to understand that psychotropic drugs not only have an action on the receptors but also on the mental representations/perceptions. The fifth session will take into account the neuropsychological theories to give a review of the knowledge. The philosophers will bring/express an epistemological criticism. The last session will try to define what an artificial Consciousness will be. The final discussion will be focused on Consciousness’ unity or plurality. But numerous other themes will be discussed: REM sleep and dream, memory’s dynamic design, cognition’s cerebral imaging, Psychosis’s conceptual renewal. Neurosciences are also the key elements of learning, social behaviours, neurological and mental disorders. They represent nowadays the basis for psychology, neurology and psychiatry. |
